WLE 457 - Ecology and Management of Game Birds - is a 3-credit course that I developed in 2016 and will offer again during spring semesters of even years. The course is modeled after waterfowl ecology courses that are often offered in wildlife management curriculums, however I also integrate upland game birds into my class. We cover a diversity of topics relevant to this group of birds, including everything from taxonomy and identification to physiology and nutrition to habitat management.
Below is the syllabus from the last time the course was offered. I'm currently revising the course framework slightly to meet our University's general education requirements as both a writing intensive and a capstone course, so course content and pedagogy is likely to shift somewhat in future offerings.
